    Disney Dream father rescue Bahamas

In October 2025, the Florida prosecutor's office wrapped up the legal side of this: no criminal charges for the mother over inadequate supervision. Their reasoning was that what she did counted as negligent, but it didn't rise to culpable negligence, which is the bar you'd need for a prosecution. Before any of that, though, there was the fourth deck of the Disney Dream, somewhere near the Bahamas, and a five-year-old girl going over the side while the ship was still moving. Fifteen meters down into open water. What pulled the father out of whatever he was doing was his wife screaming. He got to the railing and his daughter simply wasn't there. So he went in after her. Same height, nearly 15 meters, no idea what was underneath. When he came back up, he couldn't find her anywhere in the water. He started shouting her name, scanning the surface, until a voice came back. He swam toward it and got to her. By then the two of them were alone in the ocean and the ship was only beginning to come about. For roughly 20 minutes he held her up so she wouldn't go under. A rescue boat eventually reached them and pulled them both out. They lived. He came away with two fractured vertebrae from the jump. The part I keep circling back to is that he didn't pause. Jumping that distance into open ocean with no clue what's below is a specific kind of decision, and he made it instantly. #Bahamas
