The social media embargo for DCStudios' Clayface got lifted by WB close to two weeks out from release, which basically signals they know they've got a winner here. Word from critics and fans has been overwhelmingly positive, and the buzz around this one written by MikeFlanagan and directed by JamesWatkins is a totally different vibe from Supergirl, where the reactions alone told you something was off. People are describing it as a fantastic hard R body horror comic book movie, gruesomely loaded with brutal scenes that hold nothing back, yet still funny enough to offset some of that darkness, and it brings a completely different tone into the DCU. Lots of love going to TomRhysHarries for his performance, plus the romantic side of it, which some are calling an ode to classic gothic romances and a real villain origin story instead of the anti hero gimmick. A few are even putting it up there as one of 2026's best horrors and the year's biggest surprise. CLAYFACE hits US BoxOffice on OCT 23, with traditional THU Previews on OCT 22.
