Trump CFTC insider trading referral withdrawn

JUST IN: 🇺🇸 Trump administration official ordered regulators to withdraw insider trading referral involving billions in suspicious trades before President Trump's Iran announcement, Bloomberg reports. On March 23, traders placed billions of dollars in bets that oil prices would fall and stocks would surge, just 15 minutes before Trump announced on Truth Social that he would no longer move forward with attacking Iranian infrastructure. After the announcement, oil prices crashed 14%, while US & European stock markets surged 4%. The CFTC identified suspicious trading patterns and referred the activity to its enforcement division. Mel Gunewardena, a senior adviser to Trump-appointed CFTC Chairman Michael Selig, reportedly ordered investigators to retract their referral.
