Ursula von der Leyen EU enlargement push

Brussels wants to hand itself the power to cut off a member state's vote for as long as 15 years when that member breaks the rules, and almost nobody is talking about it. That proposal is moving alongside a much bigger enlargement push. Montenegro and Albania have each provisionally closed negotiation chapters, Ukraine and Moldova are still in the mix, and Ursula von der Leyen is calling the whole thing a geopolitical imperative. So this isn't just about letting more countries through the door. It's about extending strategic reach and making sure whoever comes in next lines up with Brussels. The thing I keep circling back to is what this European Union actually looks like once it's built out
