Belgal was shot by an ICE agent while his five-year-old child was in the car with him. That's the part that sits with you. So the ask to the room was simple: sit with it, hold onto each other, don't just move on. And then the bigger thing, the part that's really for all of us. The cities we call home? We're the ones who decide what they become. Same with the world, and what we pass down to the kids coming after us. That's not somebody else's job. So keep looking out for the people around you. Your friends, the people you love, and honestly the people who look nothing like you and weren't born anywhere near where you're from. They deserve respect, love, dignity. All of it.
