Putin and Trump meet on tarmac

A deal to move millions of tonnes of Russian diesel into the US is drawing sharp condemnation from Britain, where officials say it risks undercutting the push to end the war in Ukraine. Wes Streeting, the Defence Secretary, wants Washington leaning harder on Moscow instead of buying Russian fuel. He acknowledged that US energy prices are rising, but that didn't move him off his position. Zelensky's warning was that the money from such a deal could come back as more Russian weapons. Trump's answer to that was to suggest Ukraine find a replacement for Zelensky, someone ready to sit down and negotiate peace. Streeting defended Zelensky and praised his leadership. The opposition Conservatives in Britain condemned the agreement as well. What's emerging is a widening split between Washington and London over Russia, and Britain's message alongside it is that NATO has to be ready for a possible Russian attack by 2030.
