The Thing poster movie debate

Someone once told me never to ask a movie lover, 'What movie is better?' because that question doesn't yield simple answers. Instead of a quick pick, you get a full explanation, three examples, and a director's filmography. The conversation often drags in box-office numbers and character development analysis before it somehow escalates into a 47-minute argument you never asked for. It seems like asking for a preference just guarantees an exhaustive breakdown of every detail.
