In China’s BoxOffice, anticipated R-rated game adaptation horror reboot ResidentEvil  directed by ZachCregger had an incredible MON Opening Day, (which is 5th day of the local GoldenWeek 7-day long holiday), grossing SPECTACULAR $12.2M over 114k screenings, including $813k SUN Previews! A record Opening Day for the franchise and for any Hollywood horror film locally. Incredible walk up business specially for horror, 73.8% of tickets bought on the day, only 26.2% during pre-sales. WOM seems positive, as while Audiences score from ticket buyers on Maoyan are still under wraps, on Douban it received a solid 7.2⭐️ score, specially strong for Hollywood horror films locally. $1.2M in pre-sales for TUE, when it will play over 116k screenings (+2k from today)
