So California went and made it illegal to point AI at a worker's brain. No more reading minds on the clock, basically. The new rule blocks a whole toolkit that employers used to sniff out how staff were feeling and then nudge those feelings around: think video feeds, audio capture, location data, electromagnetic tracking. Inferred emotional states are off the table as a business input. Sure.
