Imagine trying to keep a song clean when the inspiration is literally a soldier who served after the Russian invasion. That was the situation with Taras Topolia, the Ukrainian singer and fan of Ed Sheeran who inspired Yours Eternally during a U2 collaboration. Bono noted that Ed resisted getting pulled into the political side of things right then.
