It's been 21 years since SERENITY hit theaters. Joss Whedon originally drafted a massive 190-page screenplay intended to wrap up the major storylines from the FIREFLY TV series. Universal Studios stepped in and mandated that the script be shortened to fit a standard feature-length format. That studio requirement resulted in the final movie runtime clocking in at exactly 119 minutes.
