    Brasileirão pass exchange map

The pass exchange patterns across the brasileirão are genuinely interesting once you map them out. i put together this chart inspired by TheAthleticFC to see where teams and their opponents trade passes, and the results are pretty revealing. red means the team has more passes in that area, blue means the opponents do. the central defensive zone is where teams naturally exchange more passes than their opponents do there, which makes sense but it's still nice to see it confirmed as a pattern. push up into the attacking field and things get more distinctive: the teams exchanging the most passes there form a clear U shape, while the ones with higher possession tend to trace a Y instead. there are also clubs that lean heavily on the sides when they're going forward, almost exclusively. how is your team looking in all this? 🤔
