So the numbers for 2023 are in from World Mining Data 2025, and they cover all 14 countries that reported tantalum output, counted as Ta₂O₅ content in metric tonnes. Ta₂O₅ is the form the data uses, and tantalum itself is a specialty metal that ends up in capacitors and electronic components, in aerospace work, in medical devices, and in other high-performance equipment. DR Congo sits on top with 630 metric tonnes, which works out to 29.86% of the global total. Rwanda follows at 475 metric tonnes, or 22.51%. Brazil comes in third at 380. After that the numbers drop off: Nigeria at 190, Ethiopia at 120, China at 96, Mozambique at 82, Australia at 50, Russia at 34, Spain at 24, Sierra Leone at 22, Malaysia at 4, Burundi at 2, and Bolivia at 1. Add it all up and global tantalum production for 2023 was 2,110 tonnes. That is the whole list, 14 producers, nothing hidden in there
