The 2023 copper picture, per World Mining Data 2025: twenty countries moved almost everything, about 94.68% of what the dataset logged, and Chile alone posted 5,250,400 tonnes. That's the top of the table by a wide margin. Behind Chile came the Democratic Republic of the Congo at 2,842,022 tonnes, then Peru at 2,755,244 tonnes, China at 1,830,000 tonnes, and the United States at 1,130,000 tonnes. The middle of the pack: Russia 916,000 tonnes, Indonesia 907,210 tonnes, Mexico 778,839 tonnes, Australia 778,303 tonnes, Zambia 732,583 tonnes, Kazakhstan 614,416 tonnes, Canada 484,552 tonnes, Poland 395,400 tonnes, Brazil 376,338 tonnes, Panama 330,863 tonnes, Iran 315,280 tonnes, Mongolia 313,270 tonnes. Rounding out the twenty: Serbia 238,909 tonnes, Uzbekistan 148,500 tonnes, and Türkiye 127,000 tonnes. Copper is what keeps electricity grids, construction, electronics, transportation, renewable energy, and modern infrastructure running, so a list this concentrated is basically the whole supply chain in one chart.
