Largest Potash-Producing Countries 2023

Potash is a mineral fertilizer that supplies the potassium crops need to grow, stay healthy, and keep agricultural productivity up. For this Worldly Original Content series, we're looking at mine production figures from World Mining Data 2025 where potash is reported strictly as K₂O content measured in metric tonnes. The global total for 2023 came in at 45,048,272 tonnes of K₂O-content potash with Canada leading the pack by itself at 14,043,046 tonnes, which was 31.17% of the entire global output. Russia followed with 7,864,000 tonnes while Belarus sat in third place with 6,380,000 tonnes. China rounded out the top four with 5,470,400 tonnes, meaning those first four countries together made up 74.94% of all global production recorded here. Moving down the list, Germany produced 2,536,308 tonnes and Israel came in at 2,341,050 tonnes. Laos contributed 2,050,800 tonnes and Jordan added 1,695,800 tonnes to the mix. Chile brought in 743,930 tonnes while Spain produced 420,000 tonnes. The United States output hit 390,000 tonnes and Brazil finished with 363,275 tonnes. Turkmenistan reported 260,700 tonnes and Uzbekistan added 238,500 tonnes. The United Kingdom came in with 141,260 tonnes and Bolivia produced 53,700 tonnes. Iran contributed 50,000 tonnes and Australia finished the dataset with just 5,503 tonnes. This breakdown covers the 18 producing countries tracked in the source data.
