The latest figures from World Mining Data 2025 track tungsten (W-content) mine production for 2023 in metric tonnes, meaning these numbers reflect the actual metal extracted rather than the total weight of the ore it came from. Global output reached 83,785 tonnes that year, with China dominating the sector by producing 65,980 tonnes alone, which equals 78.75% of the entire global supply. Vietnam followed as the second-largest producer with 7,900 tonnes, while the gap widens significantly after that point. Russia contributed 1,750 tonnes, North Korea added 1,600 tonnes, Bolivia supplied 1,505 tonnes, Rwanda brought in 1,370 tonnes, Austria produced 819 tonnes, Spain provided 711 tonnes, Australia mined 420 tonnes, DR Congo yielded 418 tonnes, Portugal outputted 400 tonnes, Mongolia generated 324 tonnes, Brazil created 284 tonnes, Uzbekistan made 77 tonnes, Burundi produced 69 tonnes, Mexico contributed 50 tonnes, and Thailand finished at 32 tonnes. Myanmar, Nigeria, and Uganda also reported production at 30, 26, and 20 tonnes respectively. Since the dataset contains exactly 20 countries with verified reports, this list includes every single one without adding unverified entries or guessing at missing data. The top two nations combined accounted for 88.18% of all production, highlighting just how concentrated the industry remains globally.
