Basra's Al-Shaghanba tribe didn't pay the ransom when Somali pirates seized an Iraqi businessman's oil tanker. Instead they reached out to overseas contacts and coordinated their own interception of the vessel. The operation ended with seven pirates captured and the crew safely rescued.
