Fact check data shows several clubs adopted SAF status since 2021. In the Série A league specifically, six SAFs and one company-club exist while others are negotiating to become companies. President Lula noted the SAF Law was approved to convert teams into companies but claimed no entity became a company solely to profit from betting activities. He cited Flamengo receiving R$ 240 million and Corinthians receiving R$ 150 million as examples of club revenue. Lula asserted clubs must find alternative revenue sources because betting will end.
