ForgottenIsland just posted around $1.5M from its THU Previews and early screenings, and that number is already ahead of where several recent animated titles started. TheBadGuys pulled $1.1M, Trolls3 and TheBossBaby2 both hit $1.3M, Encanto matched at $1.5M, Sing2 was slightly higher at $1.6M, while TheWildRobot ($2M) and Elemental ($2.4M) opened bigger. The interesting part here is that this is an original animated feature, not a sequel or established IP, and Universal and Dreamworks are seeing a strong US BoxOffice debut because of it. Early projections have the three-day opening weekend landing somewhere between $14 million and $18 million.
