Xi and Trump meet at White House

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran just handed Washington a rerun of the June deal, with the ending rewritten in Tehran's favor. Foreign Minister Araghchi openly compared his new plan to the June 17 memorandum, the one that paused the war, briefly reopened Hormuz and then blew up, only this version runs on a 7-day clock. Within those 7 days, Iran wants the fighting stopped on every front including Lebanon, the U.S. naval blockade lifted, oil sanctions waived and its frozen cash released, with Tehran offering to reopen the strait as part of the deal. The nuclear program is a separate issue. A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran won't budge on it even if Washington accepts this deal, and Hormuz stays shut until "all of Iran's conditions are met." And Tehran has company, because Xi sat across from Trump at the White House yesterday and said he wants the June deal back too, according to Chinese state media. Meanwhile, only 9 ships were recorded crossing the strait yesterday, on a route that normally carries about a fifth of the world's oil, so somebody is going to have to blink.
