Matt Murdock once had a case against Spider-Man's own name, and it never made it to screen. Chris McKenna has confirmed that a Daredevil storyline sat in an early draft of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, then got removed. The premise: while Peter Parker was away in Asia, a stranger back in New York suited up as Spidey, borrowed the web fluid, and went further by trademarking the Spider-Man name and firing off a Cease and Desist at Peter himself. Cue Peter retaining Matt Murdock to fight it out in court. That arc was written for a wholly separate take on the film, which explains why nothing from it survived into what we got. #Daredevil
