Bioluminescence is the name for that glow you see when fireflies light up a dark forest or open field on a warm summer night. It's a natural chemical reaction, and the main reason the insects do it is to talk to each other and find a mate. Get enough of them together and the whole place turns into a sea of small flashing lights.
