Ed Sheeran Philadelphia statement

Ed Sheeran stood on stage in Philadelphia to finally address the criticism that landed on him, admitting that taking and making difficult decisions means he is also making mistakes. He offered a sincere apology for those errors while explaining his usual career stance: avoiding political commentary entirely because music should be about unity, not division. This specific situation changed that rule because it is a humanitarian issue he cannot hide from anymore. The events in Israel and at the Nome Museum Festival on Oct. 7 were described as horrific moments that compounded centuries of Jewish pain. The situation unfolding in Gaza is characterized as catastrophic, unjustifiable, and disproportionate. There is deep sorrow over the scale of devastation and the loss of civilians' lives and children's lives. Systemic injustice we are seeing unfold in the West Bank simply cannot be overlooked.
