Resident Evil tops video game movie rankings

Metacritic's Universal Acclaim seal had never gone to a video game movie before. Now it has, and the one that pulled it off is Zach Cregger's RESIDENT EVIL, sitting at 96% on Rotten Tomatoes with an 81 Metacritic score. Behind it, the rest of the all-time critical top five: 2. Werewolves Within, 86% RT and 66 Metacritic 3. Sonic Hedgehog 3, 86% RT and 56 Metacritic 4. Pokémon Detective Pikachu, 68% RT and 53 Metacritic 5. Sonic Hedgehog 2, 69% RT and 47 Metacritic Cregger's resume already includes WEAPONS and BARBARIAN, and this one was shot for IMAX with a September 18 theatrical exclusive.
