Scott Turner HUD homeless fraud crackdown

Arrests have been made after a Los Angeles homeless fraud scheme got busted, and Scott Turner is not being subtle about what comes next. The HUD Secretary, working under Trump, put what he calls the homeless industrial complex on notice with a blunt line: no more charging taxpayers for homeless ghosts who do not even exist or receive services. His warning did not stop there. Private jets, Beverly Hills, Range Rovers, the lavish lifestyle of what he called wild fraud experts, all of it is done. Turner leaned on the city's nickname too. L.A. gets called the city of angels, but he says there is nothing angelic about bribery, about stealing from taxpayers, or about lying when it comes to serving the most vulnerable. His point landed hard: the fraudsters lined their pockets while Americans died on the streets. The numbers back up the frustration. Homeless spending in LA climbed in recent years and so did homelessness itself. Karen Bass has been a failure as mayor. Spencer Pratt would be a stronger pick to shut the whole thing down. Credit to the Trump administration for actually swinging at this. Turner said it from a podium in Los Angeles on Fox News.
