Sean Waltman discusses WWE ID mentorship

Coaching and mentoring are the core of what Sean Waltman does with WWE ID, even though the original gig was just Paul Levesque saying yeah to helping out. The initial agreement was strictly about reviewing tapes for six hours weekly, but it ended up not being just that because they need way more than just tape review. There are things that come up that they have to deal with beyond the scope, so the role expanded to handle additional issues that weren't in the first plan. To teach current prospects, he relies on mistakes from his own past matches rather than generic advice. He goes back and watches his old matches to look at all the mistakes he made, using those specific errors to help them learn. And he made plenty of them. You go back and watch, and everyone thinks these matches are great, but he isn't going to argue with you on that point. Instead, he sees the things that he didn't do or failed to do during those performances. Those missed opportunities are exactly what he uses to show them where things went wrong.
