He sees him weekly and gets that direct 'nope, this is the one you should take' guidance because Copeland always has the performer's best interest in mind. That feeling of being looked out for is huge. Then there's the mental shift from Shawn Michaels. Swerve never got to wrestle him, but they did tape studies involving one-on-one discussions in a closed room where it was just locked in with nobody else around. That time changed his mindset for wrestling and performing entirely. As for who inspired him? Rey Mysterio is number one, always. Uncle Rey is his guy. After that, Copeland or Edge come next, followed by Shawn Michaels as part of the top three. Swerve learned from all three, even if he only actually wrestled Rey.
