Mark Wahlberg Flight 11 story

Mark Wahlberg was thirty years old when he held a first-class reservation for American Airlines Flight 11 departing Boston on the morning of September 11, 2001. His original plan was to fly to Los Angeles for professional work, but at the very last moment, he and his companions cancelled that ticket to charter a private jet to Toronto instead. Hours later, Flight 11 was hijacked and crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, resulting in total fatalities for everyone aboard. Wahlberg has described feeling haunted by this near-miss experience for years, dealing with recurring nightmares and a deep sense of survivor's guilt that lingered long after the event. Back in 2012, he made headlines by stating he would have fought the hijackers and landed the plane if he had been on board. That comment sparked significant backlash, leading him to issue an apology to the victims' families where he acknowledged his remarks were insensitive.
