Marcy Borders survivor tribute

Everyone knows that photo of Marcy Borders running from the North Tower on 9/11, but the aftermath is what actually matters. She walked out alive only to develop stomach cancer at age 41, blaming the toxic dust she inhaled during the attack for killing her years later. She passed away in 2015 at just 42. The real story isn't the image people recognize; it's the long, hard survival she endured until the end. Society needs to remember her as a person who kept fighting, not just as a subject frozen in a picture. Source: fascinate_hist / Writer: Val
