Putin 1,660 days into Ukraine war

British military intelligence now puts Russian soldiers killed at 500,000, and if you count the wounded too, total casualties land somewhere near 1.5 million. The majority of those losses piled up after January 2023. Over that same stretch, according to Britain's military chief, Russia managed to grab just 2% more Ukrainian territory. Meanwhile the economy is under real strain: growth has slowed, consumer demand is weaker, inflation stays high. And Western officials still don't see any sign that Putin has dropped his aim of bringing Ukraine back under Moscow's control. Worth sitting with the timeline here. It's been 1,660 days since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which means this thing has now outlasted Russia's involvement in either World War. That's an enormous toll in lives and money, and the map has barely shifted. Feels like a lot of sacrifice for not much ground fr Source: Sky News / Writer: Daniyal
