Deco clarifies Julián Álvarez transfer

Deco, the sporting director of FC Barcelona, finally stepped in to clear up the noise surrounding Julián Álvarez. The official stance is that Barça never pushed the Argentine forward to make a public plea about leaving Atlético Madrid. That choice to look at a move was strictly the player's call. On the money side, Deco confirmed a formal bid for 100 million euros went out, yet Atlético Madrid simply didn't reply. The club heard repeatedly from the Spanish side that they had no intention of selling him. Once you get that kind of consistent refusal, insisting further stops making sense. They did their part by putting the offer on the table, but the door stayed shut. With no interest shown and the ball firmly in the other court, the question remains: will Barça keep trying to sign Julián Álvarez?
