Eärendil-1 is the test satellite Reflect Orbital just got cleared to launch by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission. This California startup is locked in on a plan to use giant mirrors on orbiting units to flood Earth with sunlight once the sun goes down. The FCC approval means they can finally move forward with beaming that light down from space.
