The Dog Stars box office failure

A C+ CinemaScore and mixed word-of-mouth didn't even let holiday promotions lift RidleyScott's TheDogStars, leaving the #20thCenturyStudios sci-fi production to underperform at the US BoxOffice. The cast of JacobElordi, JoshBrolin, and MargaretQualley couldn't prevent a brutal 65.2% drop after the film earned just $2.7 million during its second three-day weekend, following an opening that was already disastrous. After ten days of release, the cumulative gross reached only $13 million, with projected total US earnings estimated between $16 million and $19 million. This Peter Heller adaptation by Mark L. Smith, released in IMAX, is looking like a financial miss. #RidleyScott
