Ferguson 2008 Champions League final team talk

patrice evra once described the team talk sir alex ferguson gave before the 2008 champions league final in moscow. ferguson opened by telling the squad he'd already won and they didn't even need to play. the players were confused because the match hadn't started yet. then he started pointing at individuals and telling their stories. he brought up evra's 24 brothers and sisters and what his mother had to do just to feed everyone. he mentioned rooney growing up in a rough part of liverpool. he talked about park ji-sung's journey from south korea. as he went through each one, the players realized he was highlighting something bigger. they weren't just a team, they were people from different cultures, races and religions, all together in that dressing room, united for one purpose. through football they had become brothers. ferguson declared that unity was his victory. the whole room felt goosebumps. manchester united went on to win the champions league after that. that speech shows why ferguson was special and why that group of players achieved so much together.
