    Sean Duffy CDL enforcement

Transportation Sec. Sean Duffy confirmed a truck crash in Tennessee resulted in one American death involving a driver with a non-domiciled Commercial Driver's License issued by New York. Duffy stated subpoenas have been issued to the New York DMV for the driver's records while an investigation is underway with the Tennessee Highway Patrol to identify the carrier that licensed the driver. The speaker intends to remove drivers endangering citizens from American roads if they lack proper licensing and claims states issuing licenses to illegal immigrants will be identified through data sharing concerns. Well-trained drivers must meet DOT rules, speak English, and be lawfully in the country according to the statement. The speaker claims 8,000 truck driving schools were shut down for operating as sham entities with no curriculum or trucks. Tools exist to withhold funding or revoke state ability to issue commercial driver's licenses if states do not cooperate. A reliance on state patrol partnership exists due to limited federal law enforcement resources and there is mention of watching a legal fight regarding these actions. We have also issued subpoenas to the New York DMV to get the driving records of the driver and will fight for justice for the victims and their families. We will investigate to the fullest extent and is working with Tennessee Highway Patrol to determine the carrier that allowed this man to have a license. #SeanDuffy
