Tesla cab no steering wheel no pedals

so tesla's new cab doesn't just remove the driver, it removes the entire machinery that used to make a driver possible. no steering wheel means there's no physical hookup to the wheels, and the gas and brake pedals are gone, which deletes the whole hydraulic braking system. instead of fluid pushing the pads, a computer sends a signal down a wire to electronic actuators that clamp them. the system can pull the pads back completely when they're not needed, and the software adjusts each stop so precisely that the ride stays smooth. they're saying this is the first production car to have zero hydraulic fluids anywhere in it. steering follows the same logic, without a wheel there's no mechanical column running to the front wheels, so that whole assembly just disappears. the idea of having a computer as the driver carries through the whole vehicle, cutting out most of the moving parts and plumbing that cars have always needed. in the end it's basically a big battery with electric motors bolted to each wheel and a screen for the interface. that setup also points to cars that barely need any upkeep, which keeps things simple and cuts the cost of building them.
