Victor Osimhen Lagos poverty reflection

Victor Osimhen is reflecting on how his upbringing in a very poor area of Lagos, Nigeria shaped his entire journey. His family sat at the bottom of their street as one of the poorest households there. He recalls the specific moment rent collectors would approach his father, forcing him to hide around the corner to cry and pray for divine help. Those days meant frequent trips to dumpsites just to scavenge discarded football boots because playing barefoot was never an option he wanted. He always hoped someone would stop using them and toss them away, making it better than nothing. While that period was undeniably difficult, Osimhen insists everything belongs to the past now. He expresses genuine happiness about surviving that phase of life since it directly helped him fulfill his dreams. His family is well now, and he emphasizes that this current stability is the most important outcome. Without football, he asserts he would still be searching through trash.
