Forbes (July 2025) mapped wealth concentration across all fifty states and the distribution is stark. California leads with 199 billionaires while New York comes in second at 136. Florida holds third place with 117 and Texas follows fourth with 83. A specific cluster of four states shares exactly 23 each: Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Georgia sits next with 21 and Nevada has 19. The list then drops to a long row of eight states that each contain just one billionaire: Montana, New Mexico, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Maine, Wyoming, and North Dakota. At the very bottom, three states report zero billionaires entirely: Delaware, West Virginia, and Alaska.
