Penn State frat cocaine bail set at $250,000

A bail decision has finally come through for the man at the center of the Penn State fraternity cocaine allegations. Agostino Abbatiello, 24, who prosecutors describe as the primary supplier, had been denied bail before, but a judge has now set it at $250,000. The prosecution's case says he provided cocaine to fraternity members, with some transactions reaching a kilogram, and that members and pledges were paid hundreds of dollars to handle packaging, deliveries, and keeping the supply going. The fallout has touched more than a dozen people, with 13 others arrested, a group that includes current and former students and also the parent of a former student. Now, some of those arrested with Abbatiello are cooperating and testifying against him. His defense argues that he has no history of violence, threats, or weapons, so keeping him detained without bail wasn't justified. The judge agreed to release him on that $250,000 bail, though as of Wednesday afternoon he still hadn't posted it.
