Diego Forlán Villarreal CF career reflection

Diego Forlán opened up about a specific stretch at Manchester United where he felt his identity as a footballer was fundamentally incomplete. He admitted that internally he reached a point where he told himself something was missing from who he was on the pitch, stating clearly that he needed more than what he had there. The desire to avoid getting comfortable in his position drove him to want to fight for greater prominence, even though leaving required taking risks. He discussed this intention with his brother, acknowledging the crazy nature of the move while trusting himself to make the right choice because he believed choosing well could lead to opportunities elsewhere. Forlán also explained that he did not have the physical build required for a physically demanding style of play, noting that it simply wasn't his type of football. Since Spain seemed like a suitable destination given those constraints, he ultimately decided to join Villarreal.
