Austin Creed Kofi WWE pay cut story

The conversation that led Austin Creed and Kofi to leave their current arrangement with WWE began when Creed received a phone call from an unknown number with a 203 area code while attending his child's football game. He wondered why he wouldn't have this number in his phone since he hadn't seen a 203 number that he didn't have in a long time. Maybe like 15 minutes later, his brain went that it was very close to after Mania, where usually there are releases, even though they weren't getting released despite helping out and pulling their weight. That flicker of a thought in his mind suggested it would be a negative conversation given the timing. Then he ended up getting a call from Kofi, who said they just called him with a request for both men to accept a pay cut. The reaction was immediate confusion because how was that the conversation? It doesn't make sense to him because of what they've been able to do, what they bring to the table, and how much they have left to provide for what they believe the landscape of pro wrestling is. So he called them back, and then he ended up calling Kofi to confirm things. That was the first time that they had the conversation together about this specific issue. They realized pretty quickly that they got to go, right? This doesn't work for them anymore and isn't what they want to be doing. The decision came after determining the pay cut request did not align with their contributions or future plans for professional wrestling, forcing them to conclude they must leave their current arrangement with WWE.
