AAA Lucha Libre Worldwide OLA DE CALOR vs WWE NXT HEATWAVE

If you thought putting NXT second after AAA on Sunday was a solid play, the company got an eye-opener that hit hard. The booking logic assumed NXT would dwarf AAA in the US market, but once the main event of Heatwave rolled around, maybe half the people were left for the show. It felt exactly like a Collision episode where fans are just leaving after the thing, especially since a significant portion departed right after the AAA segment. The crowd was primarily Mexican fans there to see lucha libre, and honestly, the Mexicans were all way, way, way more over than the NXT wrestlers. Zilla Fatu was so over in that building, but nobody else managed to catch that same energy. Not Kendal Grey, not Tony D, or Myles Borne or anything like that. Even Nattie, who they figured would be super, super over, and really was not. Some of them stayed for the main event despite leaving earlier, but the learning thing is clear: if you do this, you should probably put NXT first, rather than put them in three hours into the show.
