Augusto Batalla saves fan life

Sometimes a few seconds can make all the difference, and that is exactly what happened during the Conference League final. Augusto Batalla, the goalkeeper for Rayo Vallecano, witnessed something terrifying in the stands around the 35th minute when a fan suffered a cardiac arrest. While the match continued, he decided to intervene with a move that stopped everything in its tracks. He sat down on the grass and feigned an injury so severe that the referee had no choice but to blow the whistle and approach him immediately. Once the official was close enough, Batalla stood up and pointed directly toward the crowd to alert everyone to the emergency unfolding nearby. That deliberate pause gave medical services the crucial window they needed to reach the fan, revive him, and transport him to a hospital without further delay. It is widely considered one of the most incredible moments of his career because he defended a life rather than just a goal.
