Luis Suarez on Barcelona debt

Luis Suarez opens up about the aftermath of biting Chiellini during a FIFA World Cup match, revealing the immediate personal and professional fallout. He states that the incident led to a four-month suspension without playing and prompted Liverpool to tell him to find another club, leaving him feeling hated by everyone. Suarez recalls the moments following the act with stark clarity. He notes that Godín's goal was scored roughly ten minutes after the incident, but he could not celebrate it fully. His mind was already racing toward the consequences rather than enjoying the team's success. Upon entering the locker room, his first move was to speak with his wife, who was present with their children. She asked him directly what he had done. Suarez admits he initially denied the act, crying and refusing to accept the reality of the situation. The atmosphere in the dressing room was mixed; while there were sensations of happiness from the match result, teammates were also seen checking their phones for news on the incident. He describes it as a deeply painful moment for both himself and the group. He acknowledges that he cried because he felt accepted despite the mess he had made, noting it was complicated to trust himself during that period. In contrast to the rejection he felt elsewhere, he emphasizes that Barcelona behaved spectacularly with him. The club signed him and defended him when no one else would. For this reason, Suarez considers Barcelona the club of his life and states he will always be indebted to them.
