Pierluigi Collina 2002 World Cup final

PIERLUIGI COLLINA: "I remember when they asked me to referee the 2002 World Cup final between Brazil and Germany." "I had to request videos of both teams. I locked myself in my room for a day and a half, taking notes and watching every minute of every match." "Because the objective of a referee is to be one step ahead, to know what is going to happen before it happens." "At that time, preparing like this was quite unusual... but I am proud of the fact that nowadays, it is the normal preparation for a referee." "I still get goosebumps when I remember the public's ovation. As soon as I blew the final whistle, I took the ball to keep as a souvenir. I still have it."
