Arctic trade routes map

The Arctic is becoming a focal point for global trade competition as melting sea ice opens new pathways. Russia sits on the main corridor and collects fees. China is already running regular Ice Silk Road sailings. South Korea is testing the waters to build its own hub. The U.S. and Canada are watching both the commercial traffic and the resources underneath the melting ice. Melting sea ice opened the door, but the war made the shortcut urgent.
