Sergio 'Maravilla' Martinez remembers the day he was scheduled to fight Chávez when Diego Maradona called him. Martinez says the first thing he did was listen, then start crying, choke up, want to speak but not be able to, stay mute, relax, and finally start talking again. During that call, Maradona was shouting and singing 'Come on champion, come on champion.' Martinez calls it brutal and one of his strong moments. He recalls how Maradona gave them during times when they had nothing to eat, standing by through shortages so that when something was missing, you had Diego to support you. For Martinez, Maradona was much more than football, much more than the footballer, much more than a man. He was much more than Diego Armando.
