Mexican alligator lizards seized Haneda Airport
A 23-year-old Mexican national arrived at Tokyo's Haneda Airport carrying roughly 200 live lizards hidden inside 22 pairs of socks and T-shirts. Police received a tip regarding a reptile show, which prompted customs to wait for the traveler. Upon opening the suitcase, officials found one lizard dead and identified nine as protected Mexican alligator lizards. Reports indicate these animals were purchased in Mexico for as little as $3.50 each, yet they can sell for around $630 in Japan. Source: Japanese Times / Daniyal
