Robert Downey Jr. Christopher Nolan

Robert Downey Jr. dropped a joke about how intense Christopher Nolan's sets actually are, starting with the threat that if he sees Chris Nolan, he throws his phone. The policy is strict for everyone on set: no cell phones allowed to keep distractions away. Robert explained that Nolan doesn't even really like it when you go to the bathroom, though he understands you have to. When someone asked him when he goes, Nolan reportedly said 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Robert's reaction was immediate, asking if they were fing with him. This matches his personal life since he does not own a smartphone, use email, or carry a mobile phone during production. Actor Jon Bernthal noted the distraction-free environment makes the set feel focused, comparing the quiet atmosphere to church.
