Manchester United manager squad needs

There’s something genuinely frustrating about watching Manchester United finally look like a team capable of competing again, only for the club to seemingly hesitate when it comes to giving the manager the squad he actually needs. This man came in and, in just five months, got us 3rd place, Champions League football and big wins over our rivals. He gave the fans belief again. He brought stability, improved the mentality around the team and showed that Manchester United can still compete at the highest level. And yet, the reward has been a transfer window where we simply haven’t done enough. That’s the part that hurts. We’re not talking about a manager taking over a team that finished comfortably in the top four with a perfect squad. We’re talking about Manchester United trying to return to the Champions League while still having obvious weaknesses all over the squad. Playing Champions League football means facing some of the best teams in Europe, sometimes every few days, while also trying to compete domestically. You cannot expect Carrick to perform miracles. If the club genuinely believes he is the man to lead Manchester United forward, then he has to be backed properly. Give him the players required to implement his ideas. Give him depth. Give him quality. Give him competition for places. Give him a squad capable of handling the demands of Champions League football. Because right now, signing one or two players and calling it a successful window isn’t enough. Manchester United need quality in key areas. We need players who can raise the level of the starting XI, not just bodies to fill the bench. We need players with the mentality to play for this club, players who can handle pressure, players who can perform on big European nights and players who can give Carrick different tactical options. The Champions League is a completely different challenge.
